Cats have already lived for a long time dating up to 8,000 years and beyond. Although they are domesticated animals, with Persian and Siamese as the more popular breeds, cat care still cost money. Whenever you think of cat care, you should also think of money. Your cat needs food, litter box, water and regular checkups. All of these cost money. These are only the most basic requirements. Additionally, you can add in toys, scratching post, a bed, a pet carrier and even an ID collar tag. Keep in mind that all these cost money too.
Cat care also includes feeding your cat the right kind of food. Feeding it wrongly will just cost you more money. So if you have kittens, they need several feedings per day until they reached the age of 12 weeks. Plus, you need to give only kitten food specially designed for them. Cats that are 3-6 months old need three meals a day. Older cats will just need two small meals a day or you can combine it into one large meal. Although your cats will love canned food but it is more expensive than the dry ones. Even so canned food cannot be left out for more than 30 minute. Dry food as compared to canned food can help prevent the buildup of tartar. Just make sure your cat has enough water.
Generic food although much cheaper than dry ones, are not as nutritious as dry ones, so avoid them. Cats also love cow’s milk but avoid giving them too often as it cause diarrhea. Occasional treats can be mixed with human food but not too much else you will have a fat cat. Cleanliness is also part of cat care. Cats are fairly clean by nature. They do not need too many baths, so instead just brush them once a day to prevent any hairballs buildup. Your litter box should be easily accessible and ensure that it is being cleaned once a week and being scooped daily. Cats don’t like it to be dirty.
Lastly and most importantly of cat care is the more expensive health and vet costs. You need to take your pet for checkups regularly to ensure that your pet is healthy. Therefore, by using all these tips, you will not be spending too much until you burst your wallet just for cat care alone.
